Adsorbed gas column
Use the Adsorbed Gas Column form (model > Maps & Reports) to create a 2D map of the adsorbed gas column in selected parts of the model area. Adsorbed gas is the gas accumulated on the surface of a solid material, such as a grain of a reservoir rock.
The Adsorbed Gas Column Map operation calculates a property value with the Property Type: Volume per Area, which may equal thickness (e.g. m3 / m2), but allows for a much wider variety of units. To change the units, select the property in JewelExplorer and then in the Inspector, click the General > Unit field.
Calculation method
The Adsorbed Gas Column is calculated as follows:
Gc*density*(rock volume/map area)
where
Gc = adsorbed gas content
rock volume/map area = the equivalent for ‘thickness’
To create a 2D map of the Adsorbed Gas Column
- Select a grid the property is mapped to.
- On the Zone Selection tab, select the Zones, and appropriate Subzones.
- On the Properties tab, select the properties that are required to calculate the absorbed gas column map, Adsorbed gas and Rock density, or enter a constant value for these properties.
- To execute the mapping process and close the form, click OK. If not already created, a map item named after the zone you specified in step 2 is created in the Data > Maps folder. Inside this map item you will find the Adsorbed Gas Column Map property that was created, and can visualize it in the 3D View and the CoView.
An adsorbed gas column map with a 2D grid object is created in the JewelExplorer in the Surfaces folder.
Zones Select the zone level. This defines the content of the Subzones list.
Select Subzones Select the subzone(s) that the property is mapped to. You must select at least one subzone to run the mapping process.
Combine selected zones in the map If you selected subzones, then select this option to make one map and combine the data of all selected zones. Otherwise, separate maps are generated for each subzone.
Adsorbed gas Select an Adsorbed Gas property or enter a constant value.
Rock density Select the required Rock density property or enter a constant value.
